What would you like to book?

Your model reply

An inside table for four on Saturday at seven.

Inside, we have six or half past seven. Seven is available outside only.

Your model reply

Half past seven inside would be fine.

Server

An inside table for two at half past seven, under Alex?

Your model reply

It’s for four people, not two, at half past seven.

Server

Thank you. Please check the final booking before I save it.

Your model reply

Saturday at half past seven, four people, inside, under Alex.

03 · YOUR TURN

Check the meaning, then try again.

Choose an answer and check the explanation. You can open the answer key at any time.

1. Your group cannot arrive at six and needs inside seating. The café offers six inside, seven outside or seven thirty inside. Which works?

A2 practice

See the answer and why

The answer is “Seven thirty inside.” Seven thirty is an acceptable alternative arrival time and preserves the inside-seating requirement.

2. Five people need one inside table and must leave by eight thirty. They can arrive at six thirty. Which offered arrangement fits?

B1 practice

See the answer and why

The answer is “One inside table, six thirty to eight thirty.” The earlier single table keeps the group together and fits the required departure. The other options split the group or extend beyond its limit.
